Transport evolution in London
Christian Wolmar spoke at 10a South Grove on Monday July 8: London on the Move – a Transport of Delight or Dismay
This was a joint event: Transition Highgate and the Highgate Society
Christian gave us an interesting overview of the history of transport in London, reminding us of the policies of the 1960s when ‘the car was king’ and pedestrians and inhabitants were ‘diminished’.
He argued for bicycles and for trams, and praised the London Overground Line, highlighting the regeneration that has taken place where new stations have been built.
